Singer, songwriter Marc Anthony will be honored as person of the year at the 2016 Latin Grammy’s for his contribution and career in latin music. Marc Anthony is proud to be Puerto Rican and grew up in New York where his singing talent was evident at an early age.
Marc Anthony started his career early in 1988 at the age of 20 with his first release “Rebel” and quickly made a name for himself. In 1993 Anthony saw the opportunity and risk to release his first salsa Spanish-language album. Soon after there was no stopping Anthony as we jumped to superstardom and became known as the king of Salsa music. Anthony has also appeared on the big screen in leading roles in 1996’s Big Night, 2004’s Man on Fire, and in 2007’s El Cantante.
Marc Anthony has and continues to be a staple in latin music as he embraces his role as a pioneer and welcomes new talent. When Marc Anthony started his career, Latino’s did not have much of a presence in the music industry in the US. Marc Anthony remembers when he first started, he did not see a lot of artist who looked like him or talked like him.
