We made mention of how Asian-Americans turned out in force this year for the Presidential Election with over 70% voting for Obama. But there is more historic news besides that for Asian-Americans. A number of Asian-Americans became “firsts” to achieve their positions in politics. From Mazie Hirono becoming the first Asian-American woman to be elected to the Senate, to Mark Takano of the Riverside area’s new 41st District, becoming the first openly gay Asian American to serve in Congress.
