No Black Person Is Ugly

As a rapper, Bay Area artist Lil B the Based God can be enigmatic, controversial and polarizing. And when he chooses to, he can also be conscious and insightful — as is the case with his latest song and video “No Black Person Is Ugly.”  In the video the Based God makes a statement about “black people not being shown in the media” and proves his point that “propaganda is slander to the black beauty” with a visit to a magazine stand where we see that the majority of magazine covers still cater to predominantly white standard of beauty. Thank You Based God for reminding us that we still have a long way to go when it comes to celebrating a more diverse concept of what is beautiful, and that we shouldn’t base our idea of what beauty is simply by what we see in the media.

The video was the second most shared song on Twitter over the past 24 hours; however if you haven’t seen it yet, it is worth a view.
