In the first installment of our artist profile series, we sit down with artist Shvona Lavette and talk to her about growing up multi-racial and the part that played in her life. Shvona Lavette – a Queens, New York native – excelled in the arts at an early age. With a dream of performing professionally, Shvona attended Manhattan’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts. At the Academy she was repeatedly encouraged to audition as theater staff became aware of her potential. Shvona followed the advice of her coaches and doing so paid off. She landed guest starring roles on several television series and modeled to pay her rent.
Despite a rapidly ascending profile in front of the camera, Shvona remained intent on making her musical dreams a reality. She then joined the roster with Snoop and Far East Movement at Stampede Management. Shvona Lavette is readying her new album, Gossamer, with the current single “All of the Gold” featuring The Airplane Boys.
