I found myself in an awkward place this past weekend- craving good tacos at 10:45am in a part of town I didn’t know. I quickly called a couple different friends who I knew would know just the spot. However, neither could muster a locale that met the location and time of day requirements. Why is it so difficult to find a decent taco midday in the oasis of good food that is Los Angeles? So I rolled up my sleeves and went to Google. This is where I found Komodo. Asian fusion tacos weren’t what I had in mind. However, I couldn’t resist the good reviews and the fact that it opened at 11am. It turned out to be a great decision. I’d give it a solid B+.

The food is basically comprised of asian fusion tacos, burritos and bowls. However, the vast selection of choices makes the decision a bit of a process. Seared top-sirloin, marinated chicken, fish & shrimp and pork and vegetarian choices that all sounded delicious. I decided to go with the top-sirloin taco and the spicy shrimp taco. The beef was perfectly tender and the flavors had a nice distinct asian touch. The shrimp were large and flavorful with just the right amount of heat. The flavors were better than expected, but the best part was the price. My combo meal also came with a massive portion of fresh parmesan-garlic fries making the whole thing way more food than one person needs. It also comes with a drink for a total $10. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself in to, but I was pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to the next time I’m lost on that part of town.
