It has been well documented that Kobe is a big deal in China (among other places) so it comes as no surprise that Nike would include his signature shoe in their “Year of the Dragon” collection. Tomorrow these shoes are to drop in China but contrary to rumor they will not release in the United States until March 31st (some sources say there will be no U.S. release). It makes sense for there to be a Chinese themed shoe for Kobe but the real question is are the shoe heads interested in the shoe because of it’s cultural context or because of it’s limited edition mystique? Is it cultural exposure or exploitation? More pics after the jump.
