Kenzo and Kitsuné Are the New Pitti Guest Designers

Every season the Florence based Pitti Tradeshow selects a special guest designer, that is highlighted at their show and usually gets to present its collection on the runway, something that nobody else at the show is doing. In the past Jil Sander, Undercover, Band of Outsiders and Carven have been chosen, today the two new guest designers for the January 2013 edition of the Pitti tradeshows have been announced – Kenzo, headed by Humberto Leon and Carol Lim from Opening Ceremony, is the chosen guest designer of the Pitti Uomo and will show menswear and Kitsuné from Paris, by Gildas Loaëc and Masaya Kuroki, will be showing womenswear.

It looks like Pitti is once again a must visit on the Spring/Summer 2013 tradeshow calendar. – HighSnobiety

As the digital age seems to bridge various cultures from around the world at a faster pace it doesn’t seem too farfetched to believe that this has resulted in the fashion tradeshows overseas starting to overshadow some of the ones here in the United States.  Another interesting tidbit is that Kenzo, though a Paris brand, the founder is originally from Japan. The tandem of Leon and Lim, the new creative directors of Kenzo and are from America yet their brand also has a boutique in Japan.  A bit of a full circle that shows the meaning of global fashion.
