Yesterday, a court ruled in favor of Harvard in a lawsuit brought against them by Harvard’s Students for Fair Admissions. In a 130 page decision, District Court Judge Allison Burroughs ruled that the Ivy League school’s admissions practices do not discriminate against Asian American students as was the charge levied against them.
While Harvard may have won this case, affirmative action remains under attack and colleges remain under the microscope for unscrupulous admissions practices. A tool meant to level the playing for people of color, affirmative action continues to be weaponized against the very reason it was created.
