The inclusion of women and minorities in the tech sphere is the talk of 2015, so the biggest tech firms from Facebook to Google, are on high gear to diversify their workforce – or so it seems. As Marcia Wade Talbert of Blackenterprise.com reports,
Black and Latino employees at Google saw no changes in their representation among leadership, tech and non-tech jobs.
Businesses must work hard to protect their bottom-line, and maintaining a positive public perception is key to that mission. However, such low diversity numbers aren’t much help.
Giant chip maker Intel has recently released their own report, that appears to be doing a much better job at the recruitment of diverse talent. Intel’s Chief Diversity Officer Roz Hudnell shared with Fortune that, “the more role models we create at the top, the more pull it creates down below.” You can read the rest of the article here, but it’s great to see more and more people acknowledging that we must address the issue and are willing to engage in discussions about it.
