Far East Movement Reflects on ’92 Koreatown Riots

Asian American EDM group, Far East Movement has released a two-part mini documentary series looking back on the city’s legacy of racism and destruction and how Ktown has developed into “the melting pot of Los Angeles.”

As we witness a resurgence of national concern over police brutality against black people due to the killings of Mike Brown and Eric Garner by white police officers, it is important to pay tribute and recognize the growth of Los Angeles’s Koreatown, the epicenter of the 1992 LA Riots.  The group interviewed prominent Korean Americans, such as OG Chino, Chef Roy Choi, Dumbfounded, and PK, who have all played major roles in making Koreatown one of the most diverse areas in Los Angeles.
