With successful diverse shows such as “Sense8” and “Master of None” under its belt, Netflix is taking on a greater challenge. Oscar-winning Ang Lee-helmed film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” is finally getting a sequel after 16 years. “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny,” produced by Harvey Weinstein and directed by martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo-Ping (who worked on the original “Crouching Tiger”), follows “Iron Knight, Silver Vase” of the “Crane Iron” series by Chinese wuxia writer, Wang Dulu.
Netflix released the first trailer of its original feature yesterday and it is slated for release on February 26, 2016. Michelle Yeoh is back to reprise her role as Yu Shu-Lien, accompanied by Donnie Yen, Harry Shum Jr, Jason Scott Lee, Roger Yuan, Eugenia Yuan, Chris Pang, and newcomer Natasha Liu Bordizzo. It will be filmed entirely in English, unlike its prequel which was filmed in Mandarin and shown with English subtitles to Western audiences.
